Donax striatus
Donax striatus (Linnaeus, 1767) – Striate Donax Donax striatus is very similar in size and shape to the Donax denticulatus but has only a single ridge on the posterior slope and the pallial sinus is not as deep, only reaching as far as the beaks. The color is also more uniform-usually white but often with black or brown streaks or blotches. Concentric rings may be present but are not distinct as in the last species. There is a single anterior lateral tooth in the right valve, otherwise the teeth are the same as in D. denticulatus. The inner margin is again toothed or crenulated. This species is also very common. |
